The Lost
Posted by Jeremy Ewing under Teachings, The Ministry
In Ecclesiastes 9:10 Gods word says “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.” In a nutshell this says that we should be doing everything we can for the Lord right now. We know that all have sinned, the wages of sin is death, and each of us will be held accountable one day for our actions while we were upon the face of the earth. Once you get to the grave there will be no more time to live for Christ on this earth.
I was talking on the phone a couple days ago to a family member, and we got to the subject of if this person he knew was saved. He told me that he was not sure, but they had told him that they walked the isle of the church when they were little. We got into a discussion about people that believe there saved because of the works they do, because they were baptized, or because there parents were saved. Sad fact is there is many people that believe that any of these things can get them to heaven. The reality is that if you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal savior, you will spend an eternity in hell. You have a life time to be saved and trust in the Lord for your salvation, and if you choose not to do so then your name is blotted out of the book of life.
I have had people tell me that when you’re saved, your name is written in the book of life. They will go on to say that they don’t think that your name is blotted out of the book. In 2 Peter 3:9 the Lord says “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.“ So God has predetermined so to speak that we should all come to repentance and be saved. Before we were born our names were written in the book of life. Our name will remain there until such time we perish and have not repented of our sins and put our faith and trust in the Lord. “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my father, and before his angels” (Rev 3:5)
The deal is America is becoming a nation that thinks only of it’s self, and not of our neighbor. We have people that live next door, down the street, or even in the next city over that need to hear about Jesus. We go to the store, ball games, PTO meetings, work, and everywhere else, and never think to talk or mention anything about the Savior or the Great price that he paid for us on Calvary. When I got saved I wanted everyone to know. There is many others that I have talked to that felt and did the same things that I did right after we were saved. The difference is that many of us find our self in a backslid state within a few months. We quit going to church, quit telling others about our Savior and Lord.
We need to get back to where we once was. We need to get that same fire in our hearts to serve the Lord and tell others about the great price that he paid for us. He come on his own free will to pay a debit he did not owe, and a debit that I could not pay. If it would have been just me, or if it would have been just for you, he would have done it anyway.
